The Odyssey in Clay
This year I entered ceramics class never having thrown on a wheel before. I had only touched clay one other time and that was in middle school. That was just to get a feel for clay, and we never got a chance to make anything with it. For this art show, I created three pieces. I created one large bowl, one small bowl, and a plate. The theme I choose to do for this art show was a Greek color scheme for my plate and bowls. I was able to incorporate the rich blue and the starch white that is in the flag of Greece for my colors in my artwork. I choose this theme because my Grandma who has been able to travel all over the world really enjoys talking about the culture of Greece and all the beautiful scenery. She talks about it being one of her favorite countries to visit in the World, and that inspired me to incorporate that into my work. Throughout the course of this semester I had a lot of fun working on the clay, and I am excited to take it again next year.
